He probably is. If he went on his own and set up his own Channel on Twitter, Rumble, Blaze (I doubt you tube would have him), he probably get a bigger audience and make more money

Glen Beck left Fox News and set up Blaze and his profile declined. I think it depends how much of a younger audience Tucker actually has but he'll make money either way.

The only question is how far will he go on his show? Fox News was one of the few outlets that could afford the kind of settlements they're paying out. Will a new outlet be willing to underscore the risk?

I can't see how he can get a larger audience than being on Fox News - it's the US market leader and has a linear channel as well as apps and a hefty marketing budget.

If Twitter, Rumble and Blaze were the ways to increase viewing numbers and income then why would there be anyone left commentating for Fox News and CNN?

This video he posted yesterday currently stands at 72.8 million views.

On Fox he averaged just over 3 million.

You still need to be popular to command an audience. It's unlikely Don Lemon would command an audience via a alternative medium.

Some people will refuse to watch certain channels out of principal, but if Carlsons video pops up in your Social Media feed, multiple times, chances are you'll watch it, or a portion of it.

Impressive.

I wonder whether he can sustain 3m viewers in a year's time and make similar money without News Corp behind him. Or if this video is more about the novelty factor and people are just curious to hear his side of his sacking.

To be fair, YouTube impressions are hardly a barometer of greatness. I mean "Charlie Bit My Finger" got 900 million :D

It wasn’t you tube.

Fox News says Tucker Carlson breached his contract

Fox News Wednesday notified Tucker Carlson's lawyers that the former prime-time anchor violated his contract with the network when he launched his own Twitter show on Tuesday, according to a copy of a letter obtained by Axios.

Why it matters: A breach of contract claim sets Fox News up to explore potential legal action against Carlson, a move that would intensify the already thorny public battle between the two parties.

Carlson’s lawyers told Axios that any legal action by Fox would violate his First Amendment rights.

“Fox defends its very existence on freedom of speech grounds. Now they want to take Tucker Carlson’s right to speak freely away from him because he took to social media to share his thoughts on current events," said Carlson's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, in a statement to Axios…

… Details: Shortly after Carlson posted the first episode of his new show on Twitter Tuesday evening, Fox News general counsel Bernard Gugar sent a letter to Carlson’s lawyers saying Carlson "is in breach" of his contract agreement.

"In connection with such breach and pursuant to the Agreement, Fox expressly reserves all rights and remedies which are available to it at law or equity.”

The letter refers to Carlson's contract, which was originally signed on November 8, 2019 and amended on February 16, 2021.

"This evening we were made aware of Mr. Tucker Carlson’s appearance on Twitter in a video that lasted over 10 minutes," the letter read.

"Pursuant to the terms of the Agreement, Mr. Carlson’s 'services shall be completely exclusive to Fox,'" it continues, quoting Carlson's contract.

It adds that Carlson's contract says he is "prohibited from rendering services of any type whatsoever, whether 'over the internet via streaming or similar distribution, or other digital distribution whether now known or hereafter devised.'"

If his Twitter project is his own personal thing then he’s right, Fox can’t deny him his constitutional right to free speech - more’s the pity, given how utterly odious his speech is. If he’s found to be working for someone* however, then any ‘no competition’ clause could well come into play.

*Apart from the Russian state, which I think is a given at this point.

They must think that Putin's useful (American) idiot has a case to answer. I guess it all depends on the contract between the two parties, which we've obviously not seen.
