Taf that doesnt look like simple congestion to me, it comes on and off like a switch flicked, is noise ingress? Are all your US QAM64?

Might sound silly but was it raining when it was at its worst? Water ingress into a pit or just poor connection can cause a decent connection to fall over until the rain stops and the water drains away.

1-4 are qam 64, but 5 is 16

The network log is full of RCS Partial Service, SYNC Timing Synchronization failure, Lost MDD Timeout, No Ranging Response received and DHCP RENEW WARNING.

As for rain, it's been a very soggy week or so.

Have you tried rebooting the Hub this may correct the upstream channels it did for me?

This should give you the Free speed increase to M250 if you had been on M200 before and haven't received the bump.

Our lad is in the middle of a live gaming competition, so I'll do that once he's finished.

Surprised online gaming is possible with a graph so bad.

I do hear more expletives than usual from his room. ;)

Upstream was 64 qam for 1-4 but 32qam for 5. After a reboot all are 64qam except for 3 which is 16qam. Docsis30.

Downstream Power (dBmV) varies between +0.7 to -4 across the channels.

SNR (dB) 38 for all channels.

The graphs for the past couple of days are a lot better.

All 5 upstreams are now 64qam, and the messy graphs have tidied up nicely.

Looks like a result.

Since having the hub 5 my graph is almost flat.....

VM has certainly improved ping and jitter wise since the introduction of the first superhubs. Not quite 0-1Ms jitter like it was on the first 50Mbit tier with the Ambit 300 modem though.

Re: Ping Spikes - How is My BQM?

I get 0.5-1ms jitter from about 2am to about 3pm, then around 2ms after that with occasional sudden jumps between 3pm and 10pm.

My upstream is congested as on gig1 I cannot exceed 30-40mbit quite often, if I do a upload in evenings the latency skyrockets to the 100s as docsis is maxed out, but at 4am it only slightly increases whilst also getting 54mbit, as other users might see a massive blue spike on their TBB's so for the sake of the docsis node, I now cap my uploads to 28mbit. So I dont make everything messy on the node. Downstream is perfect though even at 9pm, I assume because on gig1 there is exclusive use of the 3.1 channel there is a degree of isolation from congestion from lower tier users. Whilst upstream is just 4 QAM64 channels for everyone.

When I was last on VM about 10 or so years ago, the jitter was over 5ms, and even at 3am was worse than what I have now at peak.

There is a low latency docsis tech, but I think as VM are now shifting their focus to GPON, I expect it probably wont get deployed.
