Very sad news.

That’s quite normal for people of that age (without a line) - Mum had that for the last couple of years of her life (passed away aged 93 last November); their skin is very thin, almost paper-like…

No news of her being taken to hospital.

End of life at home surrounded by her family?

I hope this isnt the end and she pulls through. All the best and thoughts are with her family.

BREAKING: The Labour Party have suspended all campaigning until further notice. This includes any adverts the party has running online. There are also reports the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan, is not travelling with Prince Harry, to Balmoral.

There’s scant chance of her pulling through and it is clear decisions have been taken long before now that when it’s time, it’s time. Transferring her to hospital in Aberdeen would be no small undertaking, a fact that will not have been lost on anyone planning for her to spend the summer months on a relatively remote highland estate. They have long known she’s nearing the end and that when it came to it, only palliative care would be given. To cap it all, the palace has totally hit the panic button this afternoon. They very very rarely make announcements about the Queen’s health, and they certainly never have notes passed around the House of Commons in the middle of debates. They have also had just about the entire extended family flown immediately to Aberdeen.

The TV networks have heard the mood music and are switching to indefinite rolling coverage because they fully expect an announcement this evening.

Worth noting that the Royal Standard was not flying at Balmoral earlier this afternoon. When the BBC zoomed in on the flagpole it was the Lion Rampant. This only flies at Balmoral (and at Holyrood) when the monarch is *not* in residence.

My theory … she’s already gone, and they’re waiting for all the family to assemble before announcing it.

(As there is always a monarch, the Royal Standard would be expected to be hoisted as soon as Charles arrived).

The BBC have been claiming Charles is already there for some time however I’m inclined to agree this is procrastinating until whatever official steps need to commence do so. It’s been over for some hours.

I suspect the same Chris. I think she’s gone already. :(

It’s not just the BBC - it’s the entire apparatus of the state.

BBC have been flying over Buckingham Palace and there were two people hanging around the flagpole currently flying the Union Flag. Wondering they're getting ready to lower it?

Re: Queen under medical supervision

I don’t know what the protocol is now, regarding the use of half-mast flags on Buckingham palace. They did it for Diana, after a lot of pressure, and then only because the Queen wasn’t there, so they could lower the union flag (the protocol around the standard is extremely rigid, which is why I don’t think the “wrong” flag at Balmoral is an accident).
