You need more than a connector to handle the DRM issue.

eh??

no idea what all that means, like I said, they're quite happy with what we have.

HDMI has Digital Rights Management (DRM) built in which means you can't record copyrighted content. A convertor to SCART would need to strip this out if you wanted to record programmes.

I used to use the SCART output to go to my HDD/DVD recorder and then on to a modulator for distribution.

oh right . . not that (as I'm aware) they record any DRM stuff (is that films? ), anyway, the box has scart, the TV has scart.

That's what I do, the quality isn't the best but considering the processing that's going on quite acceptable.

I believe that the hard drive in the Tivo box i have is 500 mb. Therefore, i presume this is not the original boxes which they are about to discontinue.

The box has a SCART socket and also a port to allow me to watch in high definition.

The original TiVo boxes came in two sizes and people initially paid an extra activation fee for the 1TB model over the 500GB version. Either were better than the 160GB the V+ boxes had.

If it's got a SCART it's one of the boxes this thread is about.

Our V6 is plugged into TV via HDMI->SCART but you can only get composite SCART so picture quality is less good than RGB. Sometimes some interesting scaling issues, while 1080 is visible it doesn't fit on screen so need to use 720p. v6 is so much faster than the standard TiVo though.
