Support for WiFi Pods, telephone port, SamKnows Realspeed and it simply isn’t generally available, even on request, for the gigabit service.

Re: Questions about 1gbs, I am losing speed between Router and PC
So what about this instead of a 2.5gb network adapter?
How about a USB 3 2.5gb to Ethernet Cable instead? Then all I would need is a cat 6a cable and a HUB 5 :P |
Re: Questions about 1gbs, I am losing speed between Router and PC
And there are quite a few problem posts about it. I don't think it is ready for general release yet.

Re: Questions about 1gbs, I am losing speed between Router and PC
Well I tried seeing if they could send me a hub 5 but they said invite only trial and they cant add me to the trial :(
So I guess I will have to wait. Unless of course @Skie - can help and explain in more detail what he meant by this? "You can pair 2 or more ports up to pull the full speeds from it, but you need some networking skills and specialist kit to do that." Thanks in advance :) ---------- Post added at 12:31 ---------- Previous post was at 12:28 ---------- Quote:
What kit would I need etc and what skills does it take to pair 2 ports together? Is it some kind of adapter I need that turns 2 ports on the HUB 4 into 1 that goes into my PC? |

I have a old low power PC running PFsense i have a dual port intel Gbit NIC in 1 pci slot running in LAGG Round Robbin with both ports connected back to the hub4 in modem mode this is the WAN, Then i have a intel 2.5Gbe card in the second slot this is used for LAN, that then gos into a qnap 2.5Gbe switch my NAS and main desktop both have 2.5Gbe NICs so can take advantage all the other devices on network still run either gbit or wireless as they dont really benefit, Of corse id prefer them the hurry along with the hub 5 so get rid of the extra clutter |

I am not being harsh, just doing you a favour and being realistic. If it is something you wanted to pursue the easiest thing for you and what I highly recommend is waiting for them to give you a shub 5 with a 2.5gbit port on it and then you can easily put a new 2.5gbit (or 10gbit) nic in your pc. Anything else is beyond your skill set atm. |

https://www.cableforum.uk/board/show...4#post36058944 is a good overview of one way to do it. But it's massively overkill to get a few percentage points extra when the Hub 5 might be available in a few months. Does make me kick myself for not putting a 4 port NIC in my pfSense VM box though :D |
Re: Questions about 1gbs, I am losing speed between Router and PC
Ok thanks again everyone, yeah I mean I am a tech savvy guy and I do know a lot but yeah I do not think it is worth the expense of buying what I need in order to do it.
I will just wait for the hub 5 to be released for general release and then just get a 2.5gbs 3.0 USB to Ethernet Adapter Cable and a cat 6a cable. :) I am happy with the 940mbs I am getting so all is good :) |
