Damn so no chance of buying a new power cable for it working? It’s basically done and dusted?

Could also be a circuit board overheating causing a fail to safe. Either way you're probably going to have to get an engineer to look at it.

I suppose it could be a glitch in the power saving mode, might be worth trying to turn it off (if applicable).

Just a plug with 3 holes in it which goes into the tv

Sounds like a standard kettle cord … you may actually have one of the same type on your kettle, or in the back of your computer monitor, which you could borrow to test, although this doesn’t sound like the most likely diagnosis to me.

It could be something as simple as a dry joint on the circuit board or it could be an electrical component wearing out. It would have to go to a tv repair centre to sort out.

Could be, but they’re less common … I have 7 or 8 devices in the house with 3-pin cords and they’re all euro kettle type. In fact I can only think of one device I’ve ever used that had a cloverleaf and that was a laptop at church (its power brick used one). Odds are it’s the kettle type, but either way unless the cord is prone to getting disturbed it’s not likely to be at fault.

Think it may be this. I've turned it off for an hour and now its back on again and has been the last ten minutes. I had it on for a few hours and then it would turn itself off every few minutes.

So circuit board overheating seems to fit.

BTW thanks everyone for all the advice and posts.
