No never watch live other news . But tend to watch an hour or so later to skip ads etc . Just looked at what l recorded to watch later in the week box at 4% never seen it over 10% . The main thing is that the shows I like tend to be on between 8 and 11 pm so back up slightly . But hardly last over 5 days . Try never to have more than 1 of any drama ( ie Chicago pd etc) on but other types ie house builds etc add up to more than one .

Yes, but that’s a conscious decision made, egged on by the content makers who want to limit our ability to time-shift viewing to maximise their profits. It’s nothing to do with the technology. I think it’s only a matter of time before we find that everything we have recorded on our Sky or Virgin boxes is deleted after 90 days.

On what basis? The technology to do so has existed since Sky+ launched in 2002 yet nobody at any point has considered such a content limitation - indeed it is widely recognised that viewers would reject it therefore Sky and Virgin have no intention of doing so.

Indeed - if we're at the threshold where millions of people are going to cancel anyway because generic Marvel Movie 14 is exclusive to Disney+ and Discovery are repeating old documentaries on their old platform why would they bother after all this time?

I would far rather we could take out a subscription and watch any programme we liked from the cloud. We could be permitted a reasonable amount of content per month, which would be dependent on how new the content was.
Pay as you go television removes the economies of scales that make platforms viable.

I don’t appreciate being pressured to watch programmes from a series within a strict time-frame. We are not all binge watchers and some of us have lives beyond the TV screen.
Indeed, some people like the glacial pace of one episode a week.

By 2035 this may be the norm. ;)

By 2035, TV viewing will consist of extreme weather warnings, global disaster updates . . . and adverts ;)

Lots of adverts, even on the premium services. All unskippable. ;)

We have stuff years old, occasionally we watch again. Some is being repeated so we could rerecord, others not.

Nor do I. That’s why when I do sit down to watch, I’m watching something to my taste and without ads.

is it common sense, if you don’t watch much TV, to subscribe to Now TV, Amazon, Netflix, Starzplay, Apple TV, & Discovery+?
