Might not be that much work, Openreach Underground cables are less than half the size of RG6 cable, you could literally use the rg6 as a draw rope and pull a fibre cable towards the house. New cabs would need built though. Perhaps thats why they want rid of copper telephones, so much duct space wasted

Sky could partner with Virgin Media for fibre build
A Sunday newspaper report that suggested the Comcast-owned pay-TV operator was preparing to partner with Virgin Media O2’s fibre rollout.
