It was on Channel 5 today that we didn't "bring across" the EU law that protects animals, so at the moment, in the eyes of the law, stealing someones dog is no different to stealing their mobile phone.

The good news is that the UK intends to pass a law that enshrines the concept of animals being sentient beings that have emotions, memories, can feel pain etc.

Will that law also stop people stealing my daffodils? I talk to them . . they listen . . they're sentient and feel pain.

Anyway, doesn't matter how many laws you make up, scrotes will steal something at the risk of a £50 fine and/or a week litter picking.

So now (or at least when the law is introduced) rather than investigating the theft of an animal it will have to be elevated to the same thing as child abduction.
I can see it now, "Nationwide hunt for dog abductors!". As if the police aren't overstretched already.

Prince Charlie talks to the trees, why should daffodills be different? They have feelings too.

Impressive that we’re told not to follow stereotypes when some of the people these stereotypes are aimed at seem to work so hard to perpetuate them…
