Thanks, i'll join if I can't get through when my new phone arrives. Is it possible that the internal fans have stopped working, so it's overheating each time? I'm sure I read somewhere that a warning screen comes up though if it overheats (which hasn't happened).

Yes, there's an on-screen warning if it overheats. It's likely just a hard drive failure.

Will they try and repair it or bring (or send?) me a new box?

Does anyone repair anything these days? And even those that want to can't find anyone to do it.

Sweeping generalisation, but makes my point (hopefully). :D

I did a 'Connect to Virgin Media' and when it got to the last task (loading) it did it for a bit and then the screen went completely green! Is this significant?

I think the box has expired, Richard.

Is this the "Your DVR has detected a problem and is attempting to repair it. Please allow 3 hours" message?

The box has died, if so.

Nope, the screen just went completely green!

Is it worth leaving it for 3 hours, or doesn't this do anything?
