I'm still using XP SP3 on my main system and W7 pro with classic shell ( Xp look alike ) on the lappy.

Note to mods: The last few postings could usefully be moved to their own thread in the IT section?

Ya I have heard Win10 is quite bulky and very intrusive! (One has zero privacy on Win10)

I think the intrusiveness started with XP really.... (Win2000 SP4 is when they started locking the OS down)

If you're concerned about intrusiveness, then I would strongly advise you to install a pi-hole or similar on your network and block _everything_ tracking you. Windows isn't the only culprit here! The worst offender in my home network is my LG TV

What is a pi-hole?

Same as an a-hole apart from pie goes in so it could arguably be your mouth.

It's a raspberry pi running this software.

It blocks ads and trackers on your whole network (as long as you've configured it correctly).

I use a similar piece of software and yeah, you'd be surprised at what's tracking you:

I dunno if there is any kind of SW that would work on 98se to see if anything is tracking on my connection,it would be interesting but I have everything pretty much locked down so I dont know if much can track what I do..... (I always delete cookies,I have facebook BLOCKED.. I have 3rd party cookies blocked,I have scripts disabled)

Re: Running Old Windows

DNS Queries are not "tracking".

Dude111 15-02-2021 01:50

No I was just mentioning about trying to see what is tracking what seeing how locked down I have stuff.......
