We shouldn't accept politicians lying as the norm, I agree. Sadly we do seem to though. I think fact checking all of them is the first step to not accepting the lies.

Given how many people use the system, Im pretty sure they will have to be selective.

Yeah, maybe only tweets with a certain reach?

President Trump has taken the extraordinary step of threatening to close down social media platforms.

The threat came after Twitter added fact-check links to his tweets for the first time.
Quote:

It took him no time to fight back, tweeting: "Twitter is completely stifling free speech, and I, as President, will not allow it to happen."

(That said, I would not morn the loss of TW or FB, they are not 'social' any more).

Amusingly enough, his Secretary of State (Pompeo) tweeted this a couple of hours later about China.

Isn't it the likes of Twitter that are effectively trying to shut down criticism? They're trying to shut down criticism of postal voting.

No they're trying to stop anyone posting 'fake news'. Donald should be in favour of that as he's always complaining about it.

You appear to be confusing "lies" with "criticism"... ;)

No he isn’t. How can they be lies when there is news about mail-in ballots system actually being abused?

Is the news factually based, or just reporting what Trump says, which is not evidence based?

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/ma...t-voter-fraud/

Quote:

In conclusion, considering the fact that ballot requirements vary by state, making any wide-sweeping comparisons between methods faulty, and research that shows all types of voter fraud is minuscule in relation to the millions of ballots cast in each U.S. election — though of that small number, more cases of fraud are commonly associated with absentee ballots than those submitted in-person at polls — we rate the claim that mail-in voting systems “substantially” increase the risk of voter fraud as “Mostly False.”

Seems factually based to me. See nyt article from 2012.

https://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/07/u...elections.html

Throwing a snopes at me doesn’t cut it.

Elections can be decided by thousands or hundreds or just dozens of votes. That is what makes something substantial or significant.

He said that the plans would lead to substantial fraud. That is an opinion. It cannot be treated as a statement of fact that has to be proved one way or the other, because it has yet to happen one way or the other.

That's not the case for all the times he has mentioned it though - he's treated it as a fact in both tweets and replies i.e 'has' or 'does', not 'will' or 'would'.

He even set up a voter fraud commission which has to close as it turned into a huge fishing exercise and couldn't show an widespread rigging of any type of voting.
