BREAKING: Huawei blocked: Tech must be stripped from UK's 5G network by 2027

The government admits the move will delay the roll-out of 5G in the UK by two to three years and increase costs by up to £2bn.

About time. Also not every telecoms provider was using Huawei kit, it will delay some but it’s worth it.

There’s a reason why Huawei is cheap.

That's the UK pushed back a few more years behind everyone else....

Think we're a tad paranoid. Can't do deals with the EU, China and we might struggle with the self centred US...

Only O2 doesn't use Huawei. BT/EE, Vodafone and 3 all use it.

Key downside of this descision is that the UK will lag its peers in 5G and there will be increased costs of a couple of £bn which will likely be passed onto customers. But if the UK got a free trade deal out of it, then it could be a price worth paying, assuming China doesn't penalise the UK eg reduction on student numbers to UK universities.

I thought China was already making threats over the Hong Kong business?

Maybe they should have just shut up :D
