Everyone has updated their web pages now, average speeds showing across the board.

How long before OFCOM lay down the law on using the term "Average" somewhat liberally?

If you count 24/7 times, then of course the average is going to be high. Peak times can still be shocking, though.

Just as a matter of interest whilst we're talking about speeds

Has anyone tried Google's built-in speed test? https://www.google.co.uk/search?neww....0.oXVMOmLmXAI

It says I'm only getting 14.8 download whilst Speedtest by Ookla is 92.33 download

It's not anything to do with 24/7:

Numerical speed claims in broadband ads should be based on the download speed available to at least 50% of customers at peak time and described in ads as “average”.

Now that's interesting. Virgin are claiming their peak speeds are on average above the advertised speeds, while Which? is claiming they're half that. I wonder who's right?

I'd swing to what VM say as I nearly always get above the minimum speed during the evening peak

It's quite a claim that on average users get their provisioned speed 24/7

We do but in oversubscribed areas?
