The code for the Puma 6 SoC would be written by Intel, so one broken should be all broken running that blob. It'll be delivered as a binary blob to VM et al.

I'm not sure what the data path is on the Puma SoC, I presume specialist hardware handles most of the packet transport rather than relying on CPU. The Atom isn't exactly abundant with power, could just have better things to do.

I'd hoped since the days of shub1 (which I still have) that subsequent ones would have ironed out those faults.

Unfortunately it's not so cut and dry - the later hubs basically use different internals, so you have to write a lot of the code all over again.

As we all know VM are good a writing code (or having their code written for them).

Well if the code is well structured* they should only need to rewrite the HAL which shouldn't be too onerous.

*Of course it might be a load of dingo's kidneys in there.:D

Unfortunately, I don't think it works like that, the issues they have seem to be lower level, driver-style issues they rely on intel/pace/etc. to resolve.
