It amazes me that people are even discussing whether stealing is wrong. It is, end of.

How are people being brought up these days?

Stealing is wrong, everyone knows that but is it a sin? It is if you believe in sins and the 10 commandments, if you don't believe then it can't be

The Bible calls it a sin, therefore it is a sin.

So would making a copy of the bible be a sin?

Not in my opinion, because the person who wrote it (God) wants everyone to read it.

That is why it is legitimately, freely available online at no cost.

I never knew that.

AFAIK the Bible is still the best selling book in the world.

The old Sunday trading laws were a farce though, on a Sunday you could buy a pornographic book but not a Bible and alcohol but not baby milk!

Surely I could download to my hearts content, then go and confess this sin and say a few hail Mary's for forgiveness then start the cycle again?

Not really how it works :)

Dodgy downloading and streaming isn't theft.

Uploading is a criminal offence, downloading / streaming is not.

It is unlawful, but currently you will get away with it.

Downloading/streaming isn't illegal, uploading is (as this is 'distribution).

Moral, legal and religious positions can sometimes overlap though.

Some activities can be legal but immoral, conversely some activities undertaken as a stance for morality can be illegal.

A person might murder a paedophile after taking the moral high ground, but it's still illegal.

A person might down a bottle of vodka and smoke continuously every day in their own home- many would class this behaviour as immoral, but it's perfectly legal.

So Mathew, Mark, Luke and John didn't exist nor write anything? Presumably Paul didn't either?

That's the New Testament out of the window then!

Not forgetting the Acts of the Apostles.

The whole Bible was written by over forty different authors. But everything they wrote was divinely inspired by God. Therefore the true author is God.
