The first PM I ever knew after coming back from South Africa..

It seems that a lot of people are still living in the past and focusing just on her which is quite ironic as she pulled us back from the mess that was the '70s. Even as a future Labour voter at that time (not anymore) you just had to admire what she did.

Yes, what Thatcher did and achieved has to be taken into the context of the time. She inherited a broken basket case and restored the UK's standing in the world, part of that meant having to break the sort of dubious entrenched working practices and govt. policies which had helped caused the UK's demise. God only knows where we'd be now if Labour had remained in power any longer.

It's not necessary to agree with all her policies to accept that she was a great leader who rose to an immense challenge. The fact that she was our first and only female PM only adds to her achievements IMHO. That having been said, her time has probably long gone and I for one hope we never find ourselves in such need of a strong, conviction led leader.

I think that's exactly what we will need should we leave the EU ,the current shower from all parties do not IMO have the necessary conviction or skill to successfully take this country away from the EU should we vote to leave .My biggest worry if we leave the EU is do we have a leader of her calibre capable of dragging Britain back onto it's feet without the EU to prop us up

We'll need someone with the leadership and acumen of Brian Clough, the best manager that England never had thanks to a selection system that is myopic and biased. Even a casual observer could see he was the man for the job; instead they chose the football doldrums.

At present the Tories seem best equipped although they need David Miliband to replace Corbyn to force them to raise their game. Ultimately though it is the British people that will succeed outside the EU; a self-belief both admired and resented by the continentals.
