I assume they've not fully completed the work as of yet, so have moved some people onto the new CMTS and that will be why your connection is better as your CMTS will have less load on it. I think they're looking for completion by the end of June currently, but we know how that goes :P

They've made room for 16 channels so I presume more are coming.

3 32600000 ATDMA 55 16 qam 6400000 5120

Using the connection button at the top of the forum... which CMTS are you currently showing on 'SEACXX'?

I believe he's still on one of the older CMTS, thus him still being on 16QAM. My guess is that they installed one, or multiple new cBR-8's into the Seacroft headend, but not completed the work as of yet. (more CMTS, cards to come maybe?)

They've then moved some of the users onto the new kit to balance the load and solve some of the current peak time issues.

Once the rest of the work is completed, I assume they will move people onto the new kit and then they will get 16 channels. This would explain why I'm on a cBR-8 with only 8 channels, but once Gavin's given us the CMTS, that should confirm it if it's Seac01 to Seac22 (I think from memory).

I don't know what they've done in my area, but my download speed appears to have increased from around 204Mb/s to 211Mb/s.

Is that something they've done? 210MBit+ is fairly normal for 200Mbit customers, due to the over-provisioning.

I was usually getting 203-205...

have you checked your config to see if your provisioned speed has changed? Mine says 220mbits.
