Re: 50MB line with 5 static IPs + Draytek - VPN problem
On our setup (50mbit business to 3x local netgear routers) we use an SH1 in routed subnet mode (NOT modem mode) and it seems to be pretty stable, with the netgear routers able to VPN out and in fine.

Just to update you....
the line seems to be fine now in routed mode, no outages since last reported. As expected, the SH UI becomes unreachable after a few days unless the modem is restarted but doesn't affect traffic either way. Thanks for the help, hoping to upgrade to a faster speed and SH3 when available in a few months. |
Re: 50MB line with 5 static IPs + Draytek - VPN problem
Clearly I keep speaking too soon!
The internet has gone from 48mb to 0.08mb - I have restarted the SH1 and Draytek several times, changed quite a few settings to see if its something to do with the config including DNS servers, static ip of the Draytek, even reset the SH and restored from back up..nothing is helping. I called VM to report the fault, they ran diagnostics including ping and said everything was fine from their end, blaming third party equipment onsite which they don't support (actually got into an argument about it) - how can VM have such a hands-off approach when dealing with business customers?! The agent I spoke to said they only send out engineers free of charge if there is a fault on the line...£150 if I wanted an engineer to come and tell me they don't support third party equipment. Any ideas? pretty desperate, thanks! ---------- Post added at 20:22 ---------- Previous post was at 20:06 ---------- https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2015/12/12.jpg Even more confusing, ping and upload are the same as usual but download is virtually zero! |
Re: 50MB line with 5 static IPs + Draytek - VPN problem
Plug a PC directly into one of the ports on the superhub with the Draytek disconnected.
Configure it manually with one of your static IP addresses, using a subnet mask of 255.255.255.248 and with a default gateway of the first static IP address (ie the SH address). Then run your speedtest - if low - it's a VM problem - if normal in that config it's a problem your side of the Superhub. |
Re: 50MB line with 5 static IPs + Draytek - VPN problem
Thanks again ccarmock, I did that this morning. Download was slightly better - 0.5mb but still crazy low so definitely a VM problem. Logged a fault, waiting for a call back.
Funny how the agent I spoke to yesterday blamed the third party appliance/Draytek without knowing it was there yet the second guy this morning logged the fault as soon as I mentioned I have plugged directly into the SH - maybe I'll say that every time! |
