As for bluetooth vs wireless i don't really see how that's a plus or minus for either, both require you to have a receiver the 360 wireless controller comes with one anyway which is also just plug and play with no messing around.

Well lets see, a dongle dangling out of my laptop on a train, or just pick it up and turn it on.

Given the number of PCs and laptops with Bluetooth receivers built in vs. the number with XBox controller receivers built in, it's a no-brainer.

Clear it up a bit.

You can connect a PS3 controller to a PC through MotioninJoy and DS3 drivers immediately using the charger supplied with the controller. So yes some work involved there but nothing that will explode your mind.

You have to repeat the same process if using a bluetooth adapter to connect thus making the controller wireless.

The easiest setup is infact the Xbox 360 wired controller which is literally plug and play.

The xbox 360 wireless controller requires an external adapter that are no longer manufactured but can be found pretty easily. They're about as easy as the wired PS3 setup. You simply plug the adapter in, wait for it to fail the driver installation, go to device manager and highlight the device, manually find the driver - Microsoft common controller Xbox 360 2006. Then turn the controller on and off when you please.

Xbox One - Wired, See Xbox 360 wired controller.

TL: DR

The PS3 and Xbox wired controllers will work without any addons required.

To make the PS3 controller wireless you need a bluetooth adapter as already explained.

The xbox 360 wireless controller needs http://www.amazon.co.uk/Official-Wir.../dp/B000MGVAAQ

I've never seen a 360 controller sold with a wireless receiver and as far as I'm aware they aren't even being manufactured anymore.

As pointed out earlier, given the massive support for 360 controllers on PC and a lot of games there's only a select few that allow you to preset a PS3 controller, PES being one of them off the top of my head.

motionjoy to have it emulate a 360 controller in a lot of games.
< That is where Motioninjoy comes in and having tried it, I can vouch for it even though I still use 360 controllers I had no issues with the PS3 controller and the emulation is actually pretty well done.

PC's very rarely have blutooth without an adapter. I'd be surprised if the percentage of PC's in people's homes with built in bluetooth is higher than low single digits. It's not something that is standard unlike laptops.

A 360 controller sold as a 360 controller might not have them but the ones marketed as wireless 360 controller for PC do. Mine came with it in the packaging from Amazon, they are still selling them. It doesn't fail on the automatic driver install either but i suppose different versions of windows might be different.

Found em, first time I've seen them and they look official so I'd assume the drivers install properly on these. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Official-Xbo.../dp/B004JU0JSA

It's different versions of the adapter that fail install and there's quite a few versions. They're not dodgy by any means it's just the initial setup. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_...deogames%2C204

I've had a fair few of them and I've yet to get one, official or not that doesn't work.

Once the bundled ones run out then that's it, they're no longer manufactured and the rest are third party ones but like I've said they do work just as well.

The other one posted in my last post, this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Official-Wir...eiver+xbox+360 this is the one taken directly from the bundle and sold at a higher price separately, no doubt they're selling the controller separately and making a profit. Again though this is an official one that was manufactured by Microsoft.

All of my PCs have bluetooth, so do my flatmates'. Sure it's historically uncommon, but becoming more common. In any case, tiny bluetooth adapters can be easily found for a few pounds if you don't have one.

Really it just comes down to whatever you have already. I wouldn't buy either if we didn't already have a stash of them in the living room.
