Re: Crash victims undiscovered for days

Looks like the cop who answered the call made a mess of things.

Quote:

He added: "We know that just prior to 11.30am on Sunday July 5 a member of the public contacted Police Scotland via the 101 system to report that they could see a vehicle down an embankment near the M9 slip road at Bannockburn.

"All callers to 101 receive an electronic options menu. This call was answered within 6 seconds following that message by an experienced officer and the relevant details were given by the caller.

"For reasons yet to be established this call was not entered onto our police systems and not actioned out to operational teams in the Stirling area to respond and trace the vehicle.

The next question is why a cop is answering 101 (not emergency) calls instead of a civilian.

the police are probably just like the rest of us juggling too many tasks at any given time i doubt anyone went out of their way to ignore the call it probably just slipped through the net some times stuff happens i hope this doesn't turn into a witch hunt

i wonder how many cars drove past them and spotted the car in those days ?,around here if a car leaves the road and the police are aware they put a large police aware sticker on the vehicle if its not there one assumes the vehicle has just left the road and reacts accordingly.

I thought the car couldn't be seen clearly from the road.

It couldn't. The second call was from the farmer who owns the field it ended up in.

If I was an investigative journalist there are a few avenues I would be snooping around in right now to see just what state Police Scotland is in and what the SNP pledge to keep 17,000 cops whilst slashing the budget has done.

It'll be Westminster's fault I dare say...

Of course, everything that goes wrong with devolved powers is always the fault of the big bad Tories.

I'm pretty sure this was a completely unrelated incident that the Police were trying to contact her about and the officer involved didn't realise that the person they were trying to contact was the deceased.

Still gives me the impression of left hand right hand. Someone will be in for the high jump.

Not really. It's unfortunate but these things happen all the time, just because someone dies it doesn't mean all records and information relating to them are scrubbed from all databases instantly.
