Just out of interest, what sort of stuff are you missing on Sky that you had on TiVo? Only asking as I'm shortly going to be switching to the TV to Sky myself and would be interested on your initial views as other than the third tuner, I can't think of anything I'd miss myself. Cheers Superblade |
Re: TiVo being installed today, what to look out for?
Quite a few things really. Wish lists, the 3 line mini epg guide, the ability to look through the schedules a few days ahead on the mini epg guide on sky you can only go ahead a few hours. The jump back 8second and forward 30 seconds feature, the TV anywhere app - which was more user friendly than sky's in my eyes, the ability to delete groups with the push of one button - as opposed to having delete shows one by one on Sky's box, the third tuner, the ability to flick through all the tuners, the last channel button only needing one push to change the channel - as opposed to Sky, not having to wait for on demand programs to download on TiVo, the dedicated internet stream. There are more things I miss, it's late though and I need me beauty sleep. I can't seem to find a way to go straight to my recordings though, it seems I need to push three buttons to get to them. Annoying me the most though on Sky is, if you push the stop button ona recording it takes you back to live TV. I have to learn to push "back up "for the show stop and go back to the recordings. That will become habit soon enough though. These are just my bug bears at the moment, hopefully you won't miss them, but sadly I am.

Pressing play will take you straight into your planner
Whilst on a channel press select to bring up mini guide and then blue I think. You can delete an entire stack on the latest software , simply highlight the stack in your planner and you should see an option (Yellow) delete all upon pressing you are presented with Delete all viewed or Delete all. How long is it taking for On Demand to become available ? On my fibre connection its generally available in under 10 seconds. |

The blue button brings up the option for favourites which I have not set up yet. I will see what that does though. Oddly, I still don't have the option to delete stacks of episodes, but if the software is out there, that is fine to know it is out there. I will try and figure out how to get it. On demand can only be a few seconds, but the last 3 episodes I downloaded took considerably longer, but I was using my phone app to do it. Can I ask if you know of a way in which I can simply skip to the next episode in a group/stack without having to go through the whole process of going back to my recordings and then finding the next episode, pressing play and play again. I have no real problems doing it this way, it just seems long winded - esp since Tivo, Netflix and Amazon Prime all have the option of skipping on to the next episode relatively easily. (Another thing I currently miss from the Tivo) |

I didn't bother again. |
Re: TiVo being installed today, what to look out for?
Your favourites shouldn't ever be lost unless you reset the box. But the guide will reset to showing all channels after a period of time.

I won't ask anymore questions as this was originally about a Tivo box, and I have rather taken it off topic. Thanks for your help though.:) |
