THE VERDICT

Battlefield Hardline impressively manages to please several different audiences at once. Its campaign is both a great shooter and a great stealth game, and its typical plot is spiced with interesting characters and sparse but punctual humor

Pros
Exciting single-player campaign
Interesting stealth and arrest mechanics
Brilliant use of destructible scenery
Gripping multiplayer modes - especially Hotwire

Cons
Not all multiplayer modes play to Battlefield's strengths
Stealth and arrest mechanics can seem ludicrous

AT A GLANCE
Multiplayer is genre-leading, again
Levolution and destruction is amazing
Single-player is much improved...

While solo play still lags behind, it's a big step up from BF3.

After playing the full single-player campaign on the PC and multiplayer as well, I was prepared to rate the game considerably higher than Call of Duty: Ghosts, its chief rival this fall. But I’ve also played the new versions of the game on the PlayStation 4 and on the Xbox One. The graphics look wonderful on those consoles, but the multiplayer service has had a lot of problems.

There are still some advantages that Call of Duty has over Battlefield when it comes to variety and adrenaline combat. But Battlefield 4 has gone a long way toward closing the gap, and it’s a better overall game.

I think when it comes to a Battlefield and COD debate a lot of people forget you're looking at two games that are actually entirely different. One is an arcade adrenaline rush, run and gun. The other is massive borderline sim with vehicular warfare.

Titanfall was a great game but again it lived on hype and innovation. It's paved the way for other games to utilize the ideas and do so far better than it ever could. Game modes? COD has more, maps, COD has more, weapons, COD has more, Titans? Killstreaks, Gameplay? Undoubtedly the freshest in many years but again that's what this black ops will do, take the best and make it better.

Titanfall shipped under 2.5 million copies in my estimation. Despite it's hype and praise it never really took off as was expected. 3700 players on Xbox and then 3 on PC. That tells you a lot about it's success and lifespan if COD 4 and CS:GO push over a million combined.

EA's numbers released for Titanfall were 925,000 sold in the US. They wouldn't release the rest. The answer is simple. Whether people like it or not, a budget of around $100-150 million has left this game a commercial flop. If you factor in the new consoles it probably sold then it wasn't. But that was the exact reason it didn't get the massive sales that were anticipated. £500 for an Xbox then £60 for the game, silly. Its likely there weren't even enough consoles to reach it's target.

They jumped into bed with Microsoft over having what could have been a 5 million+ game over PC, Xbox and PS3. It'll improve with the sequel but they really should've went last gen, GTA V did this, I doubt it'd have record sales if it was Xbox One, PS4 and PC only.

No doubt, the first thing they do is head for the aircraft. The next time you see it, it's kamikaze diving into a tank.

I prefer BF as you can run over campers with a tank

Not if they're on a rooftop.

Its better when they're on a roof you use your tank to knock down the building (yes BF4 has destroyable scenery)

The kamikaze jets are a bit of a turn off though, wish they'd introduce a penalty or something for that.
