Yup and we know loads of C & E Europeans who are vehemently opposed to third world immigration into the UK in particular. Is that a surprise? If you see how people from the third world are treated in those parts of Europe it's not exactly a surprise. If you understand how they fear being undercut by others it's not a surprise either. The only thing which is a surprise is that the know it all Eurocrats and open borders brigade apparently didn't factor that into any of their 'we'll all live happily ever after' equations.

Spoken like a true kipper, Mr A and everyone else are against the party, conveniently forgetting, ignoring, not bothering to check that he attacks Dave, Tony, Ed, Gideon etc pretty much equally, not your fault osem, its a trait that permeates the party like a cancer and the party will need to cut it out if they want to play politics with the big boys, they'll need to accept that they will be held accountable for things they and their supporters say and do just like the other parties and when they finally do, guess what, they'll be like all the other parties

Interesting, yet amusing, viewpoint.

When other parties are criticised, they are seen as "fair game" - anyone points out anything detrimental against St Nigel and his acolytes, it's "UKIP bashing".........

Well that was the intention ;) However, not really the point I was making. The point is that nearly all this stuff is trivial when compared to what those who wield the real power have been up to for decades. For a party of losers, lunatics and no hopers, UKIP certainly do attract lots of attention amongst a few people around here. I can't think why if they're not a threat... ;)

Just for the record and in case some people don't know, I won't be voting Labour in the near (or distant) future. I believe we do need an EU referendum and tend to believe Cameron will deliver on that if elected. I will vote strategically at the next election for what I feel is the least worst option at the time.

imo....It's normal to be racist. It's a evolutionary survival trait to be suspicious of others from outside our 'tribe' Be they black, white or green.

People have been using dodgy evolutionary arguments to justify racism for decades. Ultimately however going back to when we were cavemen shows how out of place racism should be in civilised society.

Thankfully I would say that majority of people will not just accept it. Even this poll shows that it remains a minority. It's not normal and people will not just 'deal with it.

I'm not sure that we are all that far removed from cavemen. You can dress us in shoes and clothes and put a smartphone in our hands but that doesn't really change our baseline reactions and mentality if the sh*t hits the fan.

A whole bunch of people do I'm sure harbour racist views. The question is whether the more sensible and reasonable, conscious parts of their brains kick in and control their attitude and actions before they do anything.

In an ideal world no-one would hold racist views but the best we can hope for is that no-one acts on them, and no-one suffers prejudice because of their race.

This is common sense isn't it? It's remarkable to me that anyone can seriously believe that our base instincts are so far removed from the distant past when there are myriad examples of the most grotesque and abhorrent treatment of fellow human beings all around the globe, based on nothing more than 'difference' whether colour, race, religion, tribe, gang or creed. How's that for being accepting, open and politically correct 21st C. homo sapiens then?

I'm only human. I was also brought up in a quite racist household which didn't help.
