Just because none of us use Spotify doesn't make it any less valid a query, especially as he's already done some testing and found that it seems to be ok outside of Virgin's network but inside it, it's having issues. That seems like a perfectly valid and legitimate thing to investigate and there's no real harm in asking if anyone else was having the same thing. This is, quite frankly, an utterly pointless and useless post. It doesn't contribute to the thread in any way, shape or form. Sorry, General, I've got a lot of respect for you and you're normally one of the more helpful people on this forum but think of how many threads would be derailed if everyone posted that they don't have anything to contribute to it. See above. Not very nice, not helpful. Of course NuttehButteh, what people are saying is correct as well - this isn't an official forum and support isn't guaranteed, so getting upset when nobody can help isn't productive either - it doesn't look like anyone else here uses Spotify, so your best bet is either spotify's forums or the official VM ones.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm rather upset at how unhelpful the replies in the technical forums can be at times. If you have nothing useful to offer please don't post..However some patience is required when asking for help..I'm sure there would have been an answer eventually.

My subsequent post reinforces my initial explanation regarding my personal circumstances and provides some insight to the op as to why assistance to his problem has been minimal.

The rule of thumb should be if you have no useful advice don't post.

exactly, and I would have accepted some criticism for it (although I still think, in a round about way, it conveyed that people might not be willing to install an app just to help him) had there been no further activity in the thread but given the ops response I think it was perfectly valid as it provides addresses his concerns. The analogy is this:

We go and bomb somewhere like Afghanistan because we say they have VMDs. We then find the WMDs but you moan saying why did you bomb them when you didn't know where they were. I say our initial course of action was perfectly justified because we did find WMDs. If we didn't, they you can dish out all the criticism you want.

Yes my post might have sounded a bit pointless but the op's subsequent behaviour has actually made it perfectly valid so he has brought it on himself.

You know what, you need to take a good long hard look at what you actually posted and realise that it is you, not him that created the situation.

Your post along with the initial reply added nothing to the thread, in fact it actually detracted because instead of offering to help, you basically said "I would help but I can't be bothered".

Given the lack of positive response, and as pointed out, posting what you did for little reason other to either add +1 to your post count or to wind up the OP is going to get a negative response.

I don't blame the OP for being frustrated given the responses here. If you cannot offer direct help, either try to offer indirect help using relevant resources or do not post at all.

Your analogy is pointless and irrelevant and your attitude of trying to justify your behaviour instead of just apologising is rather grating.

Sounds a bit like Post Hoc justification - you seem to be saying that things he did after you posted justified your post, even though he hadn't done them yet....

thanks, that is what I was trying to get across. Like I said, I had my reasons for my initial post and you can argue the toss as to whether it was right or wrong, but given his attitude and behaviour, the post was justified as a pre-justification to his accusations. I think this is the first time in my life when I have inadvertently pre-empted something.

I don't apologise for other people's narrow-mindedness and failure to accurately analyse a situation

Sorry, Maximus, you fired the first shot and it was unwarranted. Anything that happens after that doesn't justify it, it still shouldn't have happened.

Re: Anyone else having problems with Spotify streaming tonight?

After 3 days, I am going to attempt to answer the question, though after all the irrelevance above I suspect the person with the query has given up on this forum.

On my TiVo and phone, Spotify is working perfectly this afternoon, though I suspect it was on a computer the fault was found. If so, I have been no more help than the other posts, though hopefully more positive than some!

Re: Anyone else having problems with Spotify streaming tonight?

Thanks Oli for your reply. It was on a new tablet which I had just bought as well as my PC. I tried on Mobile but I don't have the TV service. It just fixed itself after a few days.

The VM support forum only seems to have replies where they ask you to check levels and then send out engineers with some excuse. Based on the fact everything else works and I get full speed all the time I didn't think it was my machine but I did a complete re-format as well and that didn't help.

I am amazed at how this General person can state he is pre judging my reply. But I am not going to get into a discussion about it.

Kushan Maggie and Hugh etc, thank you for adding your comments. I've read this forum for years and seen many threads where someone has asked a simple question and people have dissected it down to the actual brass routes and then gone off into technical spin about it - Based on that I deemed this to be the best place to ask. Clearly I was wrong and lesson learnt.

As for the "music and soul" comment - Yes, and you have a problem with that? I am not a computer person I bet that person is very into their tech and it's a big part of their life - Do I call them a sad person for it? No. I am a DJ on one of the biggest radio networks in the UK, Music is as big a part of my life as tech is to most of you. Why I justify it I don't know.

Anyway it's sorted and based on my back up ADSL line I have found a permanent way to resolve my problem. Leave virgin, which you will all be glad to hear because it means as a non customer i shouldn't really be on here.

Oh, but wait a minute..

Oh, but wait a minute..

Looking at the date you posted this thread, I can't say I was experiencing any issues then (Virgin 50Mb and Macbook), however I did experience an issue yesterday where a song would play and stop after ten seconds or so, however I fear this is because my Macbook is long overdue a restart!

I remember when Virgin Media launched their big spotify offer a while back there was a lot of issues and there was a big thread of complaints about it on the official forum, it was eventually fixed after a few weeks of Virgin Media denying the issue!

NuttehButteh 09-08-2014 22:26

Re: Anyone else having problems with Spotify streaming tonight?

That's what I had but also the songs wouldn't start. Spotify as you probably know downloaded the whole song and caches it every time it's new. So cleared my cache and it still wouldn't do it. I didn't have time to listen to Spotify yesterday.

Whilst I appreciate all machines are different in the way they are operated I have a Imac.

You won't even apologise for your stinking attitude and rudeness. But as you appear to be so far up yourself then I am really not surprised as clearly you think you are above the rest of the human race, which you aren't.

This is my one and only reply to you.

Makes perfect sense, sorry if I don't fit in the club.. never mind

I think your question was just as reasonable as many of those posted here. I am suprised by the replies you received .. I can see why you see a clique playing out here. Some of the replies were poor and unwarranted.

Please don't let this put you off, if you need help with problems when using the VM service do post again. I am sure there are a lot of people that will try and help.

As for Spotify over VM, my son has Spotify Premium and he never has issues streaming live and downloading for offline use. This is on a variety of devices: Android, Mac's, PC's etc.

He did not say this was an official forum nor did he say this is a VM support forum. He was just pi**ed at the useless replies he got from a post to a forum that (I assume) he thought had a good reputation for helping people.

I didn't mean to imply that he said this was an official forum, just that as it's not an official forum, there's absolutely no guarantee of help (i.e. if nobody on the forum uses the same services, chances are nobody's going to be able to do anything), whereas via Virgin's official support they may be more willing/able to check things.

As you say though, the responses given were not helpful and in fact very disrespectful. I can only hope NuttehButteh doesn't allow the actions of a few to taint the whole site.

excuse me a second  Why is everyone defending his childish behaviour. If you think a forum is pants because don't reply to your post then you just leave and don't come back, you don't need to go making childish posts in all the other threads and trying to blame for it and saying I instigated the whole thing is pathetic.
