Ok thank you for your answers. I am still stuck on the question that if someone rings another person how long will that keep ringing until the exchange cuts it off?

Like most of the others, that depends on the technology of the exchange at the time.
If it was any sort of electronic exchange, then around 5 minutes. If it was strowger, then possibly it would ring for a very long time, some had timers to cut off calls, some did not. |
