Would a fast VPN be able to get around the savage traffic shaping by VM or will they still use deep packet inspection to examine the traffic? Can they even do DPI on SSL transfers?

Had some stuff to get last night about 7.00pm and ended up downloading about 80 gig via supernews. I was not slowed down at all and was maxed out at 120 meg for the whole period. :)

I've never had issues with VM "shaping" either using NewsDemon/Astra and others in the past.

Most times there is a slowdown its at the usenet providers end (as it was on this occasion in this thread).

I just downloaded around 3 GB from usenet at a constant speed of about 7200 KB/s on my 60 meg connection - no slowdowns at all.
