I'm unsure need to watch another episode or 2.

It was undemanding and a bit of a romp ... more Casanova (Tennant/O'Toole) than Ripper Street. The plot was totally, 100%, off-the shelf, written by the numbers and yet after about half an hour the writer was using dialogue to explain plot developments that I had worked out within the first 5 minutes. And that's saying something, because I normally try to switch off during these sorts of things so I can be enjoyably surprised even if it's a bit obvious.

Nevertheless it was well made, the characters were engaging and Peter Capaldi was really rather good. There's nothing else to do at 9pm on a Sunday so I will be following it for the time being at least.

Recorded for viewing in a couple of days.

I recorded it but so far haven't been able to work up the enthusiasm to bother watching it. :(

Every time I try, I think of Merlin or Atlantis or some other recent tripe served up courtesy of the Beeb.

It's a good job they are showing The Bridge 2 on Beeb 4 otherwise there would be hardly anything worth watching.

I note the best they can come up with to fill tonight's primetime slot on Beeb 1 is a repeat of some old New Tricks Ep. Totally pathetic, what the hell do we pay our TV Tax for?

Nothing wrong with Atlantis, it was entertaining, and improved slightly as it went on.

Merlin was also a good series that took about a season to get going.

I liked Merlin but couldn't stand Atlantis or the Sinbad one. Quite enjoyed last night's Musketeers, I watched it right after watching the new Black Sails show from the US and thought Musketeers was the better of the two.

Not seen yet, would always think back to the films with Oliver Reed that didn't take things too seriously.

I wonder is Constance Bonacieux will actually die in this one. She has always managed to survived most if not all the other renditions but not the book of course which is one of my favourite books along with Kidnapped and Treasure Island lol

It's brilliant. But it's not really following the story..Which I'm re-reading after many,many,many years.

I'm enjoying it, I want a leather outfit like Peter Capaldi has.

It's a shame that Capaldi will only be doing the first series.
