Re: New Year's Honours Lists

It isn't a Tory or Labour thing - friends of any government will always feature in the list.

I disagree that it should be scrapped though - it's a nice way to recognise legitimate charity work by ordinary people. There may well be an element of "look how nice we are" by the government when the awards go to one of us but still, they do get the recognition.

I do think Murray should have had a mention though, just like (the English) Bradley Wiggins did for similar achievements in his field 12 months ago.

Still waiting for my Honour award for putting up with crap governments for the last 39 years...

Makes you laugh when the film bods who have lived in Yankee land most of their lives and don't really give a toss about old Blighty get a title or gong of no significance.

As for the Industrialist types who close our factories and lose British jobs (to make more profit by way of low slave wages in Asia) how do they warrant a gong (e.g. Dyson).

oh right so just because the old government does it makes it ok for the new one to also.

Let me make this clear for you Pierre I do not support either party so coming at me with Labour did it to is a pathetic waste of time because I already know. I pass you the shovel to clear your mess

I daresay there will be some people honoured who know Cameron and have donated to the Tory party but i seriously doubt that is why they received an honour .There is a lot more scrutiny of the honours list these days so it is harder to get away with giving honours to friends ,it should also be noted that the majority of honours went to women for the first time ever this year.

God darn it. Why can't the honors system be simple. I thought I caught that Thatcher he rest don't even have those titles in their names in common usage unlike Baroness Thatcher.

I stand corrected.

According to the Independents "cronyism" article they list about 10 out of 1,195 people so not really a lot and whose to say that none of those haven't contributed greatly and deserve the honour given to them .

Simply saying

Re: New Year's Honours Lists

Can someone explain to me why the hell Karren Brady has been honoured in the honours list, what has she done apart from introducing that fool Osborne the other day.

I watched her on Tv yesterday praising David and the party for what they have achieved. Maybe she can sorry to all the unemployed in the area of East London which surrounds West Ham.

All her family are millionaires, What about the other people who should have an honour such as David Beckham, who is a great ambassador for Sport and Bruce Forsyth.

It makes me sick that Cameron has given 'prizes' of knighthoods to the donors of the Tory party. What about the people who really deserve nonours - or do they have to pay for it.

Do you mean like these people, Arthur? Or do you think they were recognised for the excellent work they have done?
