This is what I am doing at moment. I have now left 4G on in the house and still as prev poster has stated I am still getting texts through so that's good. Even with no bars on 4G I have done a speed test and getting around 9Mbps and with 1 bar it's between 10 and 15Mbps

Vodafone's data service has a few localized areas of being exceptionally terrible, mine being one of them.

EE's 4G is the best overall coverage at the moment but it's mostly crippled outdoor-only coverage. Their own coverage map shows no coverage in Burnham-on-Sea. They're obviously expanding though, but as I say it's mostly outdoors for now and the forseeable future, with patchy indoor coverage. Other networks, once they cover you (and they will within 2 years) will have better indoor coverage and possibly speeds if EE doesn't get their capacity management under control.

If you want 4G and are aware of the limitations EE are the best network to go with right now, but I'd avoid a 24-month contract if possible as they may not still be best in 24 months time.

They do SIM only and pay as you go now too. I've found coverage to be generally good; I only don't get 4G downstairs in my own home but decent signal everywhere else I go, but that's what WiFi's for. It's a lot better now the data limits have increased, got them to up mine from 1 to 10GB for an extra £1.99. Hopefully they will start rolling out 800MHz soon

As Ben_B said they do 1-month contracts, 12-month contracts, 24-month contracts AND pay as you go with no contract.

The problem with coverage is it is crippled to allow for capacity and voice calls. O2/Vodafone offer quite a bit better indoor 4G coverage in cities where they've rolled out, but those are few and far between.

I've been on EE 4G for a year now, although my town only got 4G in December, I've found it to be pretty good. I was on Three before and there call quality was terrible, and my vodafone phone for work is pretty crap as well. I get 2 or 3 bars at home on 4G and find it much quicker than 3G. The only downside is the 1GB data cap on my tariff and more can be quite expensive.

I just transferred from T-Mobile to EE, and they put me on the 4GEE network.

However, I cant use it as it is not in my area yet, so a quick, polite complaint later, and I now have 10GB data download for free each month instead as as apology !

did you get a good deal when you signed up to EE as my contract is up in march vodafone have gone downhill for couple months now.aslo looking into getting a sim only contract for 12months as have no plans off changing my samsung S4

Yes, but then I was with T-Mobile prior, so I may have got a slightly more favourable deal.

I have a Galaxy S4 (for £19.99), and have unlimited test and calls, and 10GB data for £26 a month.

Really happy with that

Are you on the £42 1GB tariff? I was on that and they moved me to a new 4GEE Extra tariff with 10GB data and unltd roaming mins/texts for an extra £1.99 when I called them
