I have norton and it's no problem infact I'm only using 21% of ram from 8 gig

Norton's problem is that it's rubbish not that it uses too much RAM :p:

Try AVG its great and also free.

Norton is awful.

For a compartmentalized browser, yes. For old-fashioned monolithic browsers (e.g. Firefox) hitting 1.5GB+ is easy.
