The Home Hub 3 had an integrated modem too (albeit not VDSL), I do wonder what Openreach's opinion is on this, as until now the separate VDSL modem was their official demarcation point and ISPs were not permitted to change, replace, or modify it.

Sky are going down this route as well. :( Just gotta hope my BTO modem don't suffer a premature demise.

How is that a downside? There's nothing preventing you from continuing to use a separate modem exactly as before. The previous Home Hubs all had built-in modems and nobody was forced to use them.

Unlike VM and the Superhub however, Openreach do not control what modem you use, you can switch back to the old standalone modem or any other compatible modem at any time.

Even if I knew, I would not be allowed to say. Though if it didn't, it doesn't really matter. We don't know yet if Openreach are going to stop supplying the standalone modem on all installs. My guess would be that they continue to give everyone the Openreach modem and certain BT customers are simply instructed to not use it.

in terms of using own device openreach have laid out limitations to what can be connected, eg, has to be vectoring capable and support certian specifications.

Rumour has it that the SR-102 is exactly the same as the SR-101 in the router dept. but has just had a VDSL modem grafted on for DIY installs like ADSL.

Actually had one of these HH5's in my hands Tuesday. It's just waiting for the modem side of it to be certified by Openreach.

Expect it to be released sometime this autumn.

Disappointing that the HH5 still doesn't allow you to connect to the LAN side from the BT-FON WiFi side of the router to test your port forwarding. Even spoke to the trial team on this and apparently they stop it to protect against DDoS!! Least I can use one of the other millions of FON hotspots to test my port forwarding (shame not my own!).

I wasn't asked to send mine back, got a mail to say keep using if you wish even :-)
