thinking of going with a tesco rolling one month bb contract dropping everything else and see what offers I get over the next few months

I really cant say HD is worth extra at the moment I love my blurays but watching the news etc in HD doesnt really grab me

Guess it may be some time before we actually get those channels though. Enough HD freeview channels could tempt more to lose Pay tv.

I dropped my package down too the basic TV, BB and Phone. I was considering this due to the ESPN removal. (31st July)
I have started to watch a lot of the BBC programmes, good educational stuff that I would have previously missed due to channel surfing..

Well, I'll phone retentions with the intention of dropping the TV package, whether they'll let me and instead persuade me to keep it with some sweet deal is another thing

If I was a full paying customer I would use be on the starter collection, tvM with a tivo and 15meg traffic managed broadband suits me

I did this last week because ESPN was going. They just said "Bye then".

I must admit now that if I could get just the freeview channels (jn HD) plus Sky sports HD I would drop Virgin Media.

Bloody sport rules everything.

i was thinking about dropping mine earlier today...in fact i am gonna call later on tonight.

i'm on the old VIP50 pack but since i took it out the price has increased 3 times i think and with sky increasing their prices in sept...virgin wont be long following suit

if i had my way...

Phone - XL

i would drop the phone completely, the only people call are *******s trying to sell stuff i dont need like loft insulation, guttering, ppi etc even though i am registered with TPS - told them plenty of times i dont need it but they still ring back at a later date

TV - XL

currently have XL with sports / movies, never watched a movie since it was put in 18 months ago and dad watches the sports...but he even said last night that for what he watches its alot of money and not getting any value out of the subscription. i tried cancelling the movies plus a few other bits months ago....but the price went UP!

Broadband - 100mb

Had the "free" (with a price increase few weeks later) upgrade to the 100mb...to be honest, the 50mb was ample for my needs. Now with all the traffic management rubbish...you (i) cant use it to its full potential...well i can but i am normally at 50mb anyway!

So by the looks of it, i am paying for a premium package and not getting any value for money, i will miss the HD channels but i only watch the HD as its there - yeah the picture is clearer but the SD is good enough

i dont intend to drop my TV- VM still offer me by far the best BB in my area and only when BT (Or sky) can match that would i even think of leaving VM. Dont really want to go back to Sky as i dont really like them as a company.

it is more cost effective to have your tel,tv and BB all thru the same provider- i have in the past had sky tv and ntl broadband/tel but you end up paying more.

i have dropped Sky Sports and Movies in the last few months to save ££. i hope to stay on XL- i like the HD and up to now ESPN.

we will soon find out how the XL pack changes when ESPN gets taken over by BT Sports next month- once we know whats what i shall see if XL still give me the best value- i may consider dropping down to L pack.

if recent rumours are right and BT Sports and Sky Atlantic do come to the XL pack i shall probably keep it .If not, looking at Chads list in a previous post, it depends how much i can justify HD channels and FOX to myself.

i do have freeview and freesat in other rooms. i too watch some US and Canadian stuff via VPN

Well called them up and decided it was not worth changing (could hardly hear the woman tbh)

but if i only cancelled movies / sport then i would only save £20 (even though when i looked on my bill i am charged £39.75)

L tv, 60BB, XL phone - £77.74
L tv, 60BB, L Phone - £74.34

i might try again in a few days when the call center is quieter

Might think about dropping Sky Sports when the price increases in October - not made my mind up yet.

I voted for may consider dropping TV package, but if the rumours on the coming soon thread are true then I would be very happy to stay!

Did you go through to retentions? 150, option 5 then option 3. They are in a better position to offer you a deal rather than call normal CS staff to change packages.

Yeah it is called thinking of leaving us, but 5 then 3 are the shortcuts so you don't have to listen to the choices.

I love the Tivo box but I am going to drop it when my contract ends as I got 1 years sky for 12.50 a month so I can save 20 quid a month. When Sky runs out I will have Tivo back even if I have to pay install I still save money
