Re: Sky sports f1
Years ago there was a separate subscription to Sky Sports 3. It was dirt cheap and rather fun and some good live stuff was on it when there were three events going on at the same time.
It was dropped long ago and cannot see Sky going back to those days. |
Re: Sky sports f1
people seem to think this is Bernie's and sky's fault for both dealing with the devil so to speak but what most people forget is that it was the BBC who actually screwed F1 fans over. it was the BBC who went to sky with a contract they couldn't afford and with a begging bowl agreed to hand it over for the few scraps the got in return. the FOM'S were tried because the BBC still had 18 months left on a contract they couldn't afford to honour.
The FOM could not sign a contract with another free to air channel starting 2012 as BBC still had the rights and there was a risk that F1 would not be shown at all if the BBC couldn't afford it. the BBC agreed to sell their contract + right to exemption to sky in return for a highlights package to which the FOM agreed. the other solution was to wait for the BBC to fail to honour their contract, risk no F1 on TV until a contract was sorted and sue the BBC for billions in losses, a move that would of ended the BBC thats how bad the situation was for the BBC. to be honest I don't think the FOM realized how tightly sky would hold on to SSF1 and its only now the FOM are realising how poor the viewing figures are on live races on sky compared to on BBC and now need a better solution to reach more viewers rathen than limited viewing sky offers. |
Re: Sky sports f1
I have F1 in with my HD+ channel would anyone know if Sky are going to change this set up because if they start to charge more I will drop the F1 channel !

Re: Sky sports f1
I love F1, but don't see what the fuss with this channel is.
If you want technical info regarding F1 there are better sources than this channel. If you want to watch practice/qualifying and of course the race they are on BBC (and in HD) all be it sometimes delayed. Suzi Perry, Eddie Jordan, Ben Edwards and David Coulthard are better than Sky's commentators/analyists in my opinion. I just don't get what the fuss is with wanting this channel so bad in HD? |

Sky F1 SD is fine for me, I'd like the HD version but if Sky want to be silly about it it they won't get me to move to Sky |
Re: Sky sports f1
Im on VM, and get SKY F1, but watch in HD when the BBC are covering the race, and to be honest I'ld watch in BBC SD just for Suzi ;)

What's even more annoying is that costs have not been cut that much as the BBC crew still attend all races regardless of being shown live or highlights and it seem the BBC blackout is only active in the UK as I've picked up a US Feed on the Internet and it was Ben Edwards and DC commentating on a race live that was highlights only in UK. |
Re: Sky sports f1
I've just noticed that in my last post my predictive text changed Perry to Pretty! That was honestly unintentional.

Re: Sky sports f1
BBC is awful this year.
Sky have the best commentary team. I can't stand Ben Edwards screaming in your ear. Damon Hill is a bit boring, Johnny Herbert seems nice enough, bit dim. Ted Kravitz is the best pit lane reporter, his notebook very good and humourous. I like Couthard and Jordan, but it seems to have lost something without Jake Humphrey. I liked watching them go off to buy dodgy shirts in India even if it had no relevance to F1 itself. |

I prefer Gary Anderson in the pit lane though.

I'm not really watching him because he looks good! I think his technical analysis is interesting. I have no interest in listening to Ted Kravitz stutter his way through disjointed interviews with team principles as if they'll give anything away of note.
