I don't see how such an 'era' could happen - we're no more or less likely to be struck by such a meteorite now than we were 5,000 years ago or in 5,000 years' time.

Nasa confirm on Twitter this Meteor is not related to 2012 DA14 which its close approach is due later today. They were on different paths.
