Every person who wishes to make Britain their home is welcome, providing they learn the language, pledge allegiance to the UK, & work for a living. If they cant do that, ship em back.

Really? Isn't there a limit to the number of people the country can take, employ and provide for now matter how hard working and decent they are? As it is, we're being told we have too many old people creating an intolerable burden on the state. It seems to me allowing more people to come here, become citizens and themselves grow old is self defeating.

Oh the irony...

What about people that come here, learn enough of the language to get by and perhaps work (and pay taxes at the same time) but don't have the intelligence or vocabulary to accurately explain "hyper-extended limb"?

We should go the French way: all business of all forms carried out in French, but if you need an interpreter, you pay for one.

And that goes for overseas call centres too.

I think it would be rather impractical if we suddenly started conducting our business in French.

Not for me Monsieur ;)

Before the "French Only" rule, I was pulled over by a routine French motorway police patrol and asked for my driving licence. When he saw the Welsh writing his face dropped as he thought he was going to have to spend an eternity trying to be understood by a Welshman and vice versa.

So he waved me on.... before I could respond in French. :D

Reminds me of a mate of mine who went on a trip to Paris. After two laborious days of trying to speak French, he realised he was simply speaking English with a French accent :D

I used to "translate" for Czech neighbours, but I don't speak Czech... I just simplified questions that were aimed at them.
