Oddly that is what I am getting now, latest speed test shows just over 60mb, really odd.

Could it have taken a while for the power change to take effect?

I don't think I could have been throttled because I haven't downloaded anything unless TiVo box did it!

Re: new 60mb slower than old 20mb!

bizzare, last test went through at 68mb!!! Mental, well maybe it will settle somewhere near 60mb, will just have to keep an eye onit, but it is miles better than it was so thanks for your help it was really useful, at least the power levels are better.

TH had it right.

-12 dBmv is too low for the modem to receive data reliably. Once that was fixed, you were going to get whatever capacity is available in your network segment.

Re: new 60mb slower than old 20mb!

if the speedtest is jumping all over the place do the TCP optimizer and then test in Internet Explorer

---------- Post added at 23:30 ---------- Previous post was at 23:28 ----------

download and run this > www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe < move the marker up top all the way too 100+ then above apply changes at the bottom click on optimal then tick the modify all network adapters box then apply changes > restart > open IE and test speedtest.net

Re: new 60mb slower than old 20mb!

BTW, the best speed test to use is Jack Dinn's JDAST. It is multi-threaded and runs from your PC not over the web via a ropey Java app.

I also posted on the virgin forum and got this answer:

After having a look at the part of the network you are connected to there is an issue with utilisation. This has been raised to the Outage team and we have a fault reference for the issue of F002291908.

So it looks like it is a utilisation issue but I am sure my power levels have helped improve so thanks.
