Re: [UPDATED] Automatic Porn block to go ahead

I spose porn gives el gov something else to blame for the crumbling society along with video games instead of apportioning the blame on themselves and our culture

Look at the news for example. Which is going to have the biggest effect on a young male. Rhianna showing sidebreast or the news about no matter what he does he will struggle to get a job. Or the news about how some terrorist blew up a truck full of soldiers

IMO if the human race did not enjoy sex it would have become extinct millenia ago afterall we ponder the meaning of life and if we are only born to die why would we inflict that on another? why would we bring life into the earth only for them to die? its because we enjoy sex thats why

You do realise the kind of stuff I am talking about is a little more explicit than Rihanna showing boob?

Enjoyment of sex has little or nothing to do with it. You can enjoy sex whether you like porn or not. For instance, a friend of mine used to love porn. He used to work as an editor/webdesigner on a porn website. One of his duties was to vet the incoming photos for compliance with the law.

He would not say what was on the photos other than to say it was illegal and that he used to end up vomiting after seeing some of the photos. He also eventually gave up his job and is now quite vehemently anti-porn. As I am sure his girlfriend would tell you, he still apparently likes sex.

The kind of stuff that kids can get access to isn't just the relatively tame stuff we had access to, or even just pictures/videos of sexual intercourse. It includes such things as Rape (simulated or not), bestiality, child abuse and various other perversions.

As I said, no one knows what the effect on society is if the kids watch enough videos that cover those kinds of subjects while they are growing up. They may be unaffected. They may also grow up thinking it's perfectly normal for a man to have sex with young kids, or to rape a woman. We don't know.

One thing I have said repeatedly on this forum, and people repeatedly seem to miss or ignore is that kids learn right from wrong from what they are exposed to, as well as from their parents and friends (who may or may not have the right idea of right and wrong). This is why I have concerns about free access to porn, and why I have concerns about violent games. I enjoy both, but if a given child is exposed to one (or both) and then not taught by his or her parents that it is not OK to kill or rape someone, what are they going to learn?

Better newspapers (http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/techno...cle3636952.ece) have come up with a better article. It will be opt-in for parents. Not automatic. I think that's a good thing all in all.

I agree with that. I don't advocate giving children access to lots of violence or porn. Some will deal with it better than others but there is no need for it. The game issue from the other thread is that the guy in question was 20, not 10. (Also Call of Duty isn't really that violent IMO. It's animated little figures falling over and going 'ugh').

there is nothing more frightening than the news

I personally developed my own ideas on morality on my own. If I followed what my parents did I would have a uncontrollable temper and would have beaten my kids so I do not agree

also how that report reads it is just software therefore useless

Aren't parents going to have a problem when they have to get the block lifted to access some quite innocent content .I had to get a VM block lifted because it meant my son couldn't access facebook

You're missing the point. The block isn't there to filter out porn. It's there to make it look like the government did something against it.

I don't want them to ,i want the government to fix the deficit ,fix the housing crisis ,get the cost of living down ,get us out of the EU ,fix the pot holes in the roads and then make us all a cup of tea .Whether or not kids have access to porn is a matter for parents

Yes, that was kind of the point I was trying to get across. They really should concern themselves with more important stuff.
