the OP failed. i did warn he or she.

No need to tell Virgin Media anything as I will not be put into a new contract when I get my free upgrade and nor will anyone else as it is a free upgrade which does not affect your contract or commitment date, if you are out of contract such as myself and I wanted to go to BT Infinity at the end of July then I can cancel as normal because I have not recommitted to anything.

Now if anyone has been put into contract then that is illegal and can easily be reversed unless of course they actually rang up and requested an upgrade which is not a free upgrade but a customer request.

Going by the OP above they have just informed him of the upgrade nothing more and they can cancel at any time giving the statutory 30 days notice because the upgrade if not requested is free as it does state on your Myvirginmedia page again as per this link below which copied from that page, go on login and be amazed.

As above you should not be requesting an upgrade and to put you in contract is wrong so ring back and cancel as you have 7 days in order to do so then you will get the upgrade for free, never ring for a free upgrade as some fool will do as above.

i wont get banned like Craig because of you. the OP said the area was stated as completed. he or she can easily think that he or she had been missed out. calling VM and saying my areas stated as completed but my speed hasnt been doubled, could you please sort it out isnt a request and rather a customer wondering why he or she hasnt been upgraded. if thats down as a request then people need to get a grip.

i could of waited for it, but he said i can upgrade you, the way he put it still don't understand it if i am honest, he said you will have to be put on a a 12 month contract, but you wont actually be on a new contract, confused by what he meant, but he got my bill a little cheaper, so i am not complaining :)

He did not take the free upgrade option so the new contract is of his own doing as no one else will be put in contract when they get there free upgrade myself included.

not really. if my area was stated as complete and i hadnt been upgraded yet id call in and ask whats going on. if i was then upgraded but told of a new contract id tell the rep to do one. if its auto done yeah no way could a new contract be applied but calling when the system says complete? use some common sense. dont state as completed if it hasnt be completed.

I never said it was completed the OP did but by ringing up they put themselves into a new contract which if within the 7 days can be reversed quite easily and I would advise them to ring up and cancel that upgrade and to accept the free version without a contract.

I think you will agree ringing up and cancelling is by far the best way to go.;)

we already know through Ben that requests for early upgrades when completion dates were not yet met would result in a new contract. this was an area stated as completed. big difference.

anyway the OP saved a quid or two so its all worked out.

It's apparently live now but as I said in the 10meg thread hasn't gone through yet (I've tried a manual reboot) it's been saying November for ages and finally changed to Complete sometime yesterday or today!

Upgrading early would cost me way way way to much, a lot more than the OP.

As General Maximus said above it can take a few days or more for it all to peter through to everyone in the area.

Do not ring up unless you are happy to go into a new contract as acting stupid will not stop them.
