How old is your Dlink router? If it's old, it probably can't handle high speeds. I have a belkin router that's almost 10 years old and it can only handle up to 20mb speeds (wired, at least).

It's almost certainly a 615. That's the only D-Link VM have ever supplied.

Yes it's a Dlink 615. Can these handle more than 20mb then? I'm going to try the DD-WRT firmware over the weekend, although I've not flashed a router before ever. Found a guide online which should help. Will post an update asap!

It'll handle about 80Mbps with DD-WRT and firewall on. Probably 300-400+ with proper firmware except you can't actually set it up that way and apparently the wireless is borked.
