Re: Virgin Media Broadband
I voted yes. It's working. It's fast. My family use it every day without a problem. I use the super hub in modem mode with a DIR 615. Last speed test said 94Mb. I don't appear to need anymore upload and currently have 5Mb. I play Battlefied 3 and it works fine.

Re: Virgin Media Broadband
If you had asked this question 3 years back I would have said yes, I am happy. As you ask now after 3 years of on and off bad service, the answer was no.

Re: Virgin Media Broadband
mines working fine at the mo so voted yes, looking forward to the 120mb and seeing how crosstalk can degrade fttc as more and more get fttc there speeds get slower, a block on other forums put this:
irst installed 5 months ago first in the cab # # # xdslcmd info --stats xdslcmd: ADSL driver and PHY status Status: Showtime Retrain Reason: 0 Max: Upstream rate = 41882 Kbps, Downstream rate = 118836 Kbps Path: 0, Upstream rate = 20000 Kbps, Downstream rate = 79999 today Line Status Help Downstream Upstream Attainable rate (kbit/s) 83580 30041 SNR margin (dB) 7 14.9 Line attenuation (dB) 0 0 Output power (dBmV) 12.4 3.5 Statistics Help Path 0 Path 1 Downstream Upstream Downstream Upstream Line rate (kbit/s) 79999 20000 0 0 CRC errors 0 0 0 0 FEC errors 854 2 0 0 HEC errors 374 0 0 0 wont be long before it goes below 80 thats some massive crosstalk? How much more can it be effected? hope they get the 30a profile out soon ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- only thing that can top 120down would be 20mb up to compete with fttc but as cables upload seem useless looks like 12s gonna be the max. |
Re: Virgin Media Broadband
Never really had too many issue, couple of capacity issues but they was sorted out which took a little longer than I would have liked.

Re: Virgin Media Broadband
I voted No because of the Utilisation problem our cable has had for 6 months (and counting). Not only are VM selling into over subscribed areas which compounds the problem, the fix dates assigned are set deliberately too short to try and keep the customers from leaving. If they were told the true fix date, a lot of people, if they had the option would leave and join another ISP ..
Utilisation seems to be a more common problem - looking at the VM Foum posts, a significant percentage now seem to have a high Utilisation cause. VM is a postcode lottery. If you live in an area where the network is within capacity then you have a good experience. This accounts for the "problem, what problem?" posts .. However if you live in a part of the VM world that has an imbalance of customers v. capacity, you have a problem. VM does not have the resources to address the problem in a timely fashion and so has to "band-aid" a solution, rearranging the deck chairs and then telling the customer they have "fixed" the problem. The Speed Doubling fiasco is not really a service problem, just a marketing fail. VM felt they had to try and compete with BT speed-wise but not having the same money, resources and infrastructure, they would always be struggling. |

An almost two thirds of forum members happy with VM isn't bad considering that there is probably a tendency for forum posters to be here because they have a problem with their service. My service during October and November left a lot to be desired. This last week it has returned to its absolutely brilliant norm. I therefore voted YES! http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/s...02-12-2012.png https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2012/12/70.png http://www.pingtest.net/result/73237095.png ---------- Post added at 13:51 ---------- Previous post was at 13:40 ---------- Quote:
Good point! I hadn't thought of that when voting. VMs TV service with the broadband currently beats all comers. Big danger for VM is Sky reselling BT's Ultra fast BB bundled with Sky TV. |
