Re: Nano Sim????

Those all complaining on smaller sims and the nano sims are probably the ones who want a smaller and thinner phone.
You cant make things smaller without making the insides smaller. It makes sense.

Re: Nano Sim????

I have three mobles all using the standard sim including a Nokia N8 at the moment all i can see is it makeing it more difficult to swap sims between perfectly good phones.

Which is why i have just upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy 11 which uses a standard size sim which i can swap around.

And having a think about it, I can see your point about thinner; a smaller sim would allow another component to be slimmed down to fit into the space.

Sorry Ben!

And the picture here shows why the went for the nano-SIM. Most of the insides is battery ;)

Although the phones get taller and wider, they are also getting thinner. So the small SIM cards allow more compact innards.

Well no, because up until now the smaller SIMs were still of same thickness.

From full size SD to microSD there was a halving of thickness and a massive reduction in surface, with Mini SIM to Micro SIM to Nano SIM there's not. There's ten times that much free space hanging about even inside the thinnest phones.

Yes you can, there's tons of free space in there that's not being used. Not to mention the SIM card tray probably takes more space than a larger sized SIM card.

Fraid that's not how it works.

Handset makers want to fit stuff into a black rectangle with rounded corners. There's tons of air space in these things.
