Its basically just another way of saying the network in your area is over subscribed. Virgin have ran out of bandwidth in that area and continued to connect new users which has had a detrimental effect on existing customers.

I think the comment "they sold my bandwidth the other users" aptly sums up how people suffering in over subscribed areas feel.

I have seen my VOD service be very problematic, which I think is affected by oversubscription, the internet tho unless very severe and the DHCP pool exhausted I would expect to stay online just slow down.

You were, more specifically, being a pedant. One of the essential skills of customer care is being able to translate technical issues for non-technical customers. Over-selling the bandwidth, as described in the OP, is not a bad description of over subscription, which as many of us know is a common problem on various parts of VM's network. It may not satisfy your craving for precision, but then you were neither the CSR nor the customer in this situation, so that's by the by.

I could be wrong but I don't think their OD service touches their consumer broadband network.

I don't know if it is possible for their TV service to be "over-subscribed".

No, I really wasn't.

A fair point. But stand by my original statement even though I may have been a little over-zealous in making it.

I wonder why VM need you to defend them from potential "BS" when all we seem to get from you is actual BS.
Do you get paid by VM to post on internet forums?

I seem remember something in the T&C about treating others with respect. Perhaps you might like to re-acquaint yourself with them?

Enough. The next personal comment will attract the wrong sort of moderator attention. No more warnings.

Every thread I read seems to have a fan boy comments and arguments in it. It's really off putting when trying to read about the real issues people have rather than the waffle after
