And yet you didn't think to put in the one other option that people have subsequently asked for? :D

Re: Are you a Royalist ?

For me it'd depend entirely on the monarchs concerned. Given some of the dodgy 'royals' around the globe, I certainly wouldn't be a royalist in those places.

Having said that, IMHO the Queen has set a very high standard and there's no doubting in my mind that our royal family bring in to UK PLC far more than they take out (in spite of the likes of 'Airmiles Andy' and the various hangers on). It'd just be nice to know that her successor(s) will do an equally impressive job... :erm:

My vote is for the monarchy therefore, but based upon current experience rather than blind faith that it's always a good thing.

I did actually but thought that those who have the "meh" opinion wouldn't bother to vote or comment in a thread they have no interest in

It's the norm to put the "I don't care" option in all polls here. for the ones who always have a moan about there not being an "I don't care" option.

As a tax payer I do support the Monarchy but I've answered No to the intended meaning of the question;)

I wish no harm on any of the individuals who make up the Royal Family. Indeed, I quite admire some of them for a variety of reasons.

It's the symbolism of the Monarchy that props up a class system that I personally believe is unhealthy for our Society. That's my reason for voting No.

I see no reason why any child born in our Society shouldn't aspire to one day become head of the State. It can't happen as things stand

I was brought up to believe in equality and that I was the equal of any other person. I therefore don't think I'd ever bow in deference to anybody simply because of their bloodline.

If any of the Princes knocked on my door I'd treat them with the same respect that I'd afford any other individual. I'd shake their hands, but I wouldn't bow to them.

I will, however, raise a glass to Her Majesty and wish all of you celebrating her Jubilee to have a fantastic time. ;)

Put it so much better than I could - totally agree.

But you don't have to. If you want to treat any of the Royals as you would a person in the street then you are allowed to do so.

I know mate.

I'll be slaughtered by the press though when I'm waiting to be knighted. ;)

There aren't too many people in my street who are in line to the throne so I haven't had much chance to practice not bowing... although there is the old guy at number 7 who has a corgi, perhaps I should practice not bowing to him as a first step. :)

Here's me thinking that those who don't care wouldn't bother reading the thread

Yeah. You'd think that wouldn't you. Such is the internet that that doesn't happen :D
