It's not linux you dopey thing... It's the Skynet beta OS.. Apparently it should run on all my PC's then spread itself over the internet and eventually cause something called Judgement day.... ;)

Yeah - I recall downloading something big like that to do with judgement day but mine ran on bluray players rather than computers. (I hope cw has me on ignore).

Is that why that put Terminators on any unused street drops then?

Re: STM idiosyncracies

Is anyone else still having this problem regarding the 3-4pm period. I've been complaining since early April on the VM forum and to their complaints dept regarding stm being activated on my connection before the stated 4-9pm times. On any day i can start a download at 3.30pm and i will be stm'd between 3.41pm-3.45pm. I spoke to a complaints team member at VM and he told me i'd NEVER EVER been stm'd (rubbish i get stm'd 2-3 times a week maybe more) and that my laptop must have a program scheduled to run at 3.40pm that simulates stm (is that even possible). I know that i do not ever get stm'd during the day so that seems to not apply (maybe i'm in a trial area who knows) so i can download as much as i want. Its just infuriating that they won't acknowledge that there is a fault and a problem with stm kicking in during the "free window". Its not the superhub at fault as i had an ambit 256 until a month ago and it happened on there. My messages to VM now seem to be getting ignored as well as my forum posts on the help section on their site. Can anyone help and is anyone else seeing this problem still. Dave.

Re: STM idiosyncracies

Checked my download STM yesterday between 3-4. Managed 2.6GB without being limited.

Downloaded 1.5GB from 4 to 4:25 and did get STMd. I knew I was going to go over the limit that evening using iPlayer so though I'd force it early. That way I had full speed again by 9:25.

That was running from macc-cmts-03

Yeah I'm pretty sure that in the past I've had no problems between 3 an 4 but I certainly do these days. I'm sure I've seen it said in the past that the STM is a function built into the CMTS so it looks like VM may be even more of a postcode lottery than just the level of congestion in your local area.

In just over 2 weeks time though I won't care... :)

Which is basically what I postulated fwiw earlier in this thread:

"…..STMv1.3 is limited to max 40 policy rules and earlier STM versions only had max 20.
Therefore depending on the version implemented on a specific DOCSIS3 chassis and number of concurrent service tiers(2,10M,10L,20XL, 50XXL, L30, XL60,100/120 etc) available on a specific CMTS being managed there could well be an insufficient number of policy rules to "manage" all subscribers…..
"

;)

Re: STM idiosyncracies

Having moved to 60Mbps I thought I'd test the STM on that here.

I've just downloaded 12GB during the supposed 15:00 - 16:00 happy hour and the STM has kicked in. I'm not sure if this is because I exceeded 10GB but not til after the first STM period ended or 5GB before the second started. Either way the "happy Hour" here isn't as happy as it is supposed to be.
