Re: The Eurovision rant thread
Quote from BBC:
There were high hopes for Humperdinck - affectionately known as "The Hump" - given his huge global fanbase, but his draw as first to sing in the contest seemingly proved detrimental. In reality going first had nothing to do with it - what was critical was that "The Hump" is way past his best (given that Eurovision has been the graveyard of many a career was he the only one we could get to agree to do it?), there was no gimmick factor (like the Russian Grannies) and the song was from another era (though I'm not quite sure which). Those factors along with the buddy voting that goes on and the expansion of the competition to countries who have no love for ex-empirical nations (having just gained there independence from one) meant that the surprise was not that we did not do well but that we managed to avoid both getting "null points" and being last. So I suppose we got a result after all - roll on next year. |

Re: The Eurovision rant thread
i like it :P
I think it might be a good format for elections to party leaders singing regional juries or telephone votes (depending on how intelligent the area is and if they can be trusted to vote the right way ) and then all the fun of watching the points board cant think of anything better :) and yay sweeden maybe we have a new abba ;) |
Re: The Eurovision rant thread
I watched bits...in between flicking through channels
So not a real fan..and wouldn't miss it if it wasn't here...but you can say that about almost all of BBC programmes Ditch the license fee...make them sink or swim for commercial income...let life go on |
Re: The Eurovision rant thread
I watch streaming news from an American tv news network, because of that, I have to pay the TV license fee, which pays for trash like this
Interesting. |
Re: The Eurovision rant thread

Re: The Eurovision rant thread
This is not a TV licence thread. There are plenty of those already. If you want to discuss that, go and bump one of them, or start a new one.

Re: The Eurovision rant thread
It's rubbish, it's always been rubbish and it always will be rubbish.
Thank the Lord for other channels and PVR's. |
