I've built a tolerance for pain meds over the years, I take 45-75mg (sometimes more) of codeine phosphate with 1000mg paracetamol, or use Buprenorphine or Fentanyl transdermal patches. Half of the time, the symptoms can be more bearable than the remedies. Sometimes you have to go to that happy place with the medication just for a bit of time out. Its finding that balance of what works and what you need to do. |
Re: Warning over co-codamol tablets
On my packet of Co-codamol it has the warning "Can cause addiction, for three days only".
But the number of tablets (32) is for 4 days worth. I only take them first thing in the morning, and before I go to bed, between that I take standard paracetamol. |
Re: Warning over co-codamol tablets
The euphoric feeling you get from opioids can be easily become addictive. The usual non chronic conditions the norm is to only take any form of opioids for 3 days only, normally that will be enough, if not try to have a few days off them before taking again.

If the pain really strong on there scale say 8 doubt it would ease it. Another thought does the body adapt it becomes less effective more you take. Literally get imune to its ability to absorb pain receptors. Sorry doc wont prescribe stronger. I used to meditate think hard on the pain would actually will it away abit. Its stupid as it sounds I actually was able to resolve moderate pain. Higher pain could not sadly. My Doc hated me doing it said you can get addicted to pain start self harm to get rush. Dont know why he would think it he retired now. Surely popping painkillers more likely to get adicted. I am on some different tabs for another reason but they do take pain away. I think they called inhibitors damn hurt yourself within minutes brain dont send pain signals. Its like got my own little army of soldiers blockade the masses little pain protesters.:D Now my old doc would gone spare you get a feeling like being superman like erophia rush pain wont hurt you. Surely if you know you wont feel pain brain fogged out god knows what you would do. Apparantly there risks of suicide on the side effect list:shocked:. Wonder did people actually commit suicide on trials how they get tablets like this through. It was not for Pain reasons I been subscribed this horror tablet. I asked if could come off them he said yes if you want hospital be extremely very very poorly. Asked the specialists the same said similar to the doc. Told me not to worry what could happen. The tablets there for reason to prevent my health deterorating:( |

I didnt get prescribed them for my teeth but had some old ones left from an old prescription. during the day I was taking paracetomal and ibrupofen rotated every 2 hours for the gum pain, and then just took a co-codamel before bed so it allowed me to sleep. so was one a day for 3 days. the 4th day the pain was down enough to not need any. co-codamel made me very tired and also feel sick. I have also had other painkillers which I was on for months but apparently can cause heart issues if used too much, my own GP just kept giving me repeat prescriptions yet my parent's GP went mad I was on so long and wrote a letter to my GP. |
Re: Warning over co-codamol tablets
Codeine works well for me as a painkiller, but I had to stop taking them as the constipation I got with them (which Codeine also is used as treatment for IBS/Diarrhea) was severe.
They can be powerful for people not used to them. My g/f took a high MG content of Codeine for treatment of her IBS 10 years ago for the first time and she went floppy on me and really tired. I literally had to take her home to bed. She slept for like half a day. lol |
