I am suggesting it so that we pay less on our utility bills and reduce fuel poverty

I agree the government sold off are best asset so private companies can rip us off. In fact most of the energy companies are not owned by UK industry any more. Why not go that bit more and renationlizse the Transport, Water and Serwage. Yes we should renationlize water (except in Scotaland and Northern Ireland where it is the case) and the railways (which despite the sell off, we still fund it and strongly regulate it)
