Doubt it - in London we have things called black cabs..... :D

Apparently Joyce had to resign as Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary in 2010 after pleading guilty to failing to provide a breath test......

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Joyce

His record on expenses also makes interesting reading...

Quote:

Joyce was the top-claiming Member of the House of Commons for the 2005–06 Parliamentary Session, claiming £174,811 in expenses, of which 62% was for staff and office costs.[22] ......he once again rose to the top of the expenses list for the 2007–08 Parliamentary Session with £187,334.[24]

Joyce was the first MP to claim more than £1 million cumulatively in expenses.[25] In October 2007 Joyce claimed £180 for three oil paintings. When asked why he had used taxpayer's funds in such a way he replied "because they look nice."[26] In May 2009, tabloids reported Joyce was seeking advice from HM Revenue and Customs regarding £40,000 in unpaid capital gains tax on the sale of his London home, which he had designated as his second home under the Second Homes Allowance scheme.."

Quite a few Osem l suspect and l suspect straight afterwards he broke all the rules of social responsibility that he was only preaching moments earlier.

Labour MP Eric Joyce pleads guilty to all charges of assault following brawl in Commons bar.

Lets hope the punishment fits the crime.

Doesn't seem a very harsh punishment I must say.

Falkirk MP Eric Joyce shouted at police "You can't touch me, I'm an MP" on the night he attacked four politicians in a House of Commons bar, a court has been told.

Everything that is wrong with British politics is in those 7 words

I would have jailed him just for saying that

In all likelyhood he will be expelled so at least that will be one less pig at the trough.....untill his replacement is elected

The article says he will be expelled from the Labour Party but IIRC he's intending to stay on as an MP until the next election.

didn't know they could do that ,i thought that if they got expelled from a party then it would force a by election

The electorate voted for the candidate (ostensibly) rather than the party that backed him/her. Though as we know in practice in safe seats you could put a rosette on a pile of bull plop and it would be elected.

Quite and don't we see such a lot of evidence of that! The art of being a 'successful' MP all too often boils down to getting your self elected or parachuted into a safe seat by your mates with the accompanying meal ticket for life...
