At this time though no Hub/Superhub has been forced onto the network even when listed on the account as a straight replacement as we do see them on accounts and they are still in the box when the customer calls in with a fault, usually the Hub/Superhub had been sent out for a similar issue but they never got round to fitting it as the issue had cleared. |

If you just use it in modem mode then I don't think there are any complaints. |
Re: when i get the 100 meg will i still have the same modem ?
I think the super hub is good but I get wifi problems some times where it just suddenly stops working for no reason until I reset the hub.. can be annoying but hopefully in updates we will see the bugs ironed out by the time the upgrades take place.
1-2 months.. Cant wait! |
Re: when i get the 100 meg will i still have the same modem ?
I will be getting a superhub very shortly but I'm very happy with my current wireless router so I will simply set superhub to modem only.

Re: when i get the 100 meg will i still have the same modem ?
I've had the Super Hub two weeks now, after upgrading to 100Mb/s, first thing I did was put it in Modem Mode and plug in my D-Link 655 router.
I run three websites in the background 24/7 as well as normal use of the computer, so far the Super Hub has been excellent, it runs cool (in Modem Mode), speed test displays just over 100 Mb/s about 95% of the time and, most importantly for me, there has not been a single drop out. So although I was apprehensive about the modem change initially I am now happy I made the move. If there is one niggle it has to do with the design of the Super Hub, instead of the cables coming out the back like most modems the cables on the Super Hub come out the side limiting where I can place it. |
Re: when i get the 100 meg will i still have the same modem ?
so how do i check what speed im on ?
i know theres a speed test but isnt there somewhere in the modem setting i can check as well ? and am i wright in thinking i wont get the 100 meg till i get the super hub ? . |
Re: when i get the 100 meg will i still have the same modem ?
Depends on your existing modem. What is it at the moment? If's it's a VNMG300, you can go to 100 without changing it. If it's any other modem, then you will need a SuperHub.

Re: when i get the 100 meg will i still have the same modem ?
As we are talking abour being upgraded to 100mbit I am assuming you are currently on 50mbit with the vmng300. Go to http://192.168.100.1 and click on Operation Config and it should look something like this
Primary Downstream Service Flow SFID : 900 Max Traffic Rate : 110000000 bps Max Traffic Burst : 10000 bytes Min Traffic Rate : 0 bps Primary Upstream Service Flow SFID : 899 Max Traffic Rate : 10250000 bps Max Traffic Burst : 16320 bytes Min Traffic Rate : 0 bps Max Concatenated Burst : 16320 bytes Scheduling Type : Best Effort apart from yours will be about half that for the 50mbit config |
Re: when i get the 100 meg will i still have the same modem ?
thanx for your reply General Maximus
yes i have the same numbers as you showed in you reply . i have orderd a super hub , will be with me in 2 weeks , i couldnt believe that they said they can get it to me sooner and install it for £30 , surely it cant be to hard so i replied no . |
Re: when i get the 100 meg will i still have the same modem ?
this is very important to read very carefully:
You never needed a superhub to start off with but they are trying to force them on everyone for some reason. Your current modem can handle your ew speed absolutely fine and it is capable of going a lot faster. I have got the same modem as you along with many other users and if I didnt think it was working properly then I wouldnt use it. I love it that much that I had to write a letter of complaint to the CEOs office before xmas to get it back because an engineer came round when I was out and swapped it over for a shub without my permission (long story). Anyways, we have already established you have already been upgraded because you have got the new config. VM sending you the shub is a waste of time and you definitely do not need it in anyway shape or form to make your connection work. If you are happy with how things are and the router you are using at the moment then great. When the shub arrives it can stay in it's box and gather dust because you dont need it. The only minor snag you might have is that your current router (which you havent mentioned) might not have gigabit ports in it depending how old it is and you might not get your full 100mbits. Your modem is fine but the router might slow your connection down a tad. If this is the case I would suggest you invest in a new proper router (£30-£40 ish) instead of using the shub. |

Re: when i get the 100 meg will i still have the same modem ?
ok what i will do is wait for the super hub to come , try it and if i have problems then i will definitely get the one you mentioned its saved in my favourites, i hope its easy to set up lol as im not that technically minded.
again thanx for your advice i must admit i have heard some people having problems with the superhub , but also some say its fine , still i have nothing to lose as its free . |
